Program
The program includes Japanese choral pieces as well as traditional American songs and show tunes. The featured choral groups will perform individually and then together in the program finale.

Stage I: "Composition III for Male Chorus," by Michio Mamiya
One of seventeen pieces in the "Composition" series by noted composer Michio Mamiya (Grand Prix of Salzburg Opera, 1974), it originates from traditional Japanese ceremonial songs, folk songs, and children's songs. Performed by the Male Choir of the HAGI Choir, Sendai, Japan.

Stage II: From "Poem of the Sea," by Ryohei Hirose
A masterpiece by Japanese composer and professor Ryohei Hirose and written especially for mixed choirs, "Poem of the Sea" has emerged as one of the most popular Japanese suites for mixed choirs. Performed by the Mixed Choir of the HAGI Choir, Sendai, Japan.

Stage III: A Barbershop Chorus, by the Alexandria Harmonizers
A medley of traditional American songs and Broadway tunes performed in the barbershop style by the Harmonizers, from Alexandria, VA - one of the preeminent barbershop style choral groups in the world. A Harmonizers Quartet will also share the stage.

Stage IV: "For My Lovers," a Male Choir Suite by Takehiko Tada
Composer of more than seventy suites over sixty years, Takehiko Tada is probably the most famous Japanese composer for male choirs. "For My Lovers" is an anthology that was specially selected by Mr. Tada for the Men's Glee Club of Tokyo to perform at their annual concert. Each of the five pieces in the anthology is a creative expression of deep love for family. The suite will be performed by the Men's Glee Club of Tokyo & Kansai, the White Pine Glee Club (Detroit), and the Men's Glee Club of New York.

Stage V:
A Collection of Our Favorite Songs, featuring the HAGI Choir and Japan Choral Harmony. Finale includes the Alexandria Harmonizers

Joined by Japanese 4th to 9th grade students

“Ezekiel Saw de Wheel,” a Spiritual

“Saitara-Bushi,” a traditional Japanese folk song of the Miyagi Prefecture

“Let the Sunshine In” from the musical “Hair,” by Rado/Ragni/MacDermot

“May Each Day,” by Wyle/Green, sung by Andy Williams
